Today, February 2nd, is the Day of Iemanjá in Brazil. Iemanjá is the orixá of the waters and the mother of all other orixás (worshiped deities of the Afro-brazilian religions Candomblé and Umbanda). Also called Rainha do Mar (Queen of the Sea), her salutation is called Odayá in Yoruba and today processions are held all over Brazil.
The mixtape pays homage to Iemanjá as well as all other orixás and contains a selection of Brazilian music mainly from the 70’s that is strongly built on Afro-brazilian percussion and with lyrics on orixás.
